An EV charger’s screen sits outdoors for years, in full sun, rain and freezing nights, and gets used by the public. DCL Technologies, Inc. (DCLTEK) supplies the display, touch and cover glass stack for charger HMIs, matches it to your site conditions, and offers a US-built option for programs that need Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliance.
What we supply
What we design for
- Solar load: high-clearing-point LCDs and IR-cut films
- Cold: wide-temperature panels and heater films
- Impact ratings in the IK08 to IK10 range, depending on design
- IP65 to IP67 front sealing
- UV-stable adhesives and coatings to limit yellowing
- US-built display assemblies and country-of-origin documentation for Buy America programs
Build America, Buy America (BABA)
Federally funded chargers, including those built under the NEVI program, must meet Buy America requirements: final assembly in the United States plus a domestic-content threshold that the Federal Highway Administration has proposed raising. LCD panels themselves are not yet made at scale in the US, so DCLTEK built a path that works within the rules:
Questions customers ask
Will the screen black out in direct sun?
Not if it’s specified correctly. We use high-clearing-point liquid crystal panels that resist blackout under solar load, add IR-cut films where needed, and recommend enclosure venting or active cooling for severe sites.
How tough is the cover glass?
We offer chemically strengthened or tempered glass in 3 to 6 mm thicknesses, laminated and anti-shatter options, and tune touch to work through thick glass. Impact ratings such as IK08 to IK10 are achievable depending on design.
What temperature range can you cover?
Industrial panels typically operate from -20°C to +70°C, with options up to -30°C to +85°C. Heater films keep the LCD responsive in extreme cold.
Can you meet Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements?
Yes. For Buy America programs such as NEVI, DCLTEK offers US-built display assemblies: bonded display and touch modules are completed at a US contract manufacturer into finished assemblies structured to carry a US country of origin, and we provide country-of-origin documentation for each one. TAA-qualifying sourcing is also available when required.
