The customer
An OEM in the test and measurement space, building laboratory instruments.
The design request
The customer needed a display that shows fine detail clearly and a touchscreen that keeps working in a real lab.
- High resolution and high contrast for a laboratory instrument.
- Touch that works with gloves and with occasional conductive gels on the screen.
- A lens that fits their mechanical design, with their artwork and logos.
What DCLTEK did
- Chose a 10.1″ WUXGA long-life panel for resolution, contrast and life.
- Optically bonded the touch sensor to the display.
- Designed the lens to the customer’s mechanical design, with their artwork and logos printed on it.
- Set up the touch to work with gloves and with occasional conductive gels.
The result
An embedded display and touch subassembly that drops into the customer’s instrument and meets its optical and touch requirements.
Why it matters
In the lab, gloves and gels are part of the job. A touchscreen has to work with them, and the image has to be sharp enough to trust.
