The design request
The customer needed a cab display for machines that work outdoors all day, on rough ground, in all weather.
- Readable in direct sunlight.
- Built for constant vibration.
- Touch that works with gloves and with rainwater on the screen.
- Fit the cab without redesigning it.
What DCLTEK did
- Chose a high-resolution display with the brightness to stay viewable in direct sunlight.
- Supplied a touch panel designed for the application, so touch performs with gloves and rainwater.
- Picked the backlight and electronics for low heat inside the cab housing.
- Designed the subassembly for vibration and worked with the customer on the mechanical design, so it drops straight into their cab.
The result
A display and touch subassembly that drops into the customer’s cab and keeps working in sun, rain and vibration.
Why it matters
Field equipment works where ordinary displays fail. Sunlight, gloves, rain and vibration all have to be designed for from the start.
