E-paper and reflective displays that use ambient light instead of a backlight, for very low power and excellent readability in bright light. Every part listed can be customized, including backlight brightness, cover glass, touch and FPC length or orientation. Samples typically ship in 4 to 6 weeks.
When e-paper and reflective displays make sense
- Static content: e-paper holds an image with no power and is ideal for labels, signs and readouts that change occasionally.
- Refresh speed: updates take far longer than on a TFT, so e-paper doesn’t suit video or fast-changing screens.
- Readability: reflective displays get easier to read as ambient light increases, which makes them excellent outdoors and in bright rooms.
- Temperature: update speed slows in the cold, so check the operating range against where the product will be used.
