How to choose a 21.5 inch display
- Panel or monitor: pick an embedded panel (LVDS) if it goes inside your own enclosure with your own controller board. Pick a monitor if you want a finished unit with HDMI, VGA, DVI or DisplayPort inputs and VESA mounting.
- Brightness: 250 to 500 nits suits indoor use. 1,000 to 2,500 nits is for windows, outdoor kiosks and direct sunlight, and many monitors include automatic brightness control.
- Touch: monitors come with projected-capacitive touch over USB or a touch option of your choice. Panels can be paired with PCAP touch and cover glass.
- Environment: standard parts run from about -10 to 50 °C. Wide-temperature panels with high-temperature liquid crystal reach -30 to 80 °C, and some monitors offer IP65 fanless or UL 60601 medical builds.
